Thoughts on Weddings

By April 12, 2013August 19th, 2022No Comments

After months and months of planning, the time is almost here…my son and his fiancée’s wedding!  When I think about their upcoming wedding, many thoughts come to mind: I think about how quickly my children have grown up, I think about how blessed Jimi and Tricia are to have found each other, I think, “I hope my dress fits”…but what I don’t  ever want to  think about is anything going wrong on their special day.

Since life is unpredictable, however, we know the unexpected can happen. Weather, accidents, and a host of other possible unforeseen events can wreak havoc on even the most perfectly planned days.  Even though we can’t control for every potential misfortune, having the right type of insurance can certainly help protect from financial loss in cases where the unthinkable happens.

When planning a wedding (or any other grand-scale event), the best thing you can do is talk to your insurance agent. He or she will be able to help you understand what coverage, if any, is provided by your homeowners’ policy and then further advise you in respect to wedding and event insurance.  Wedding insurance is a very reasonable investment that can protect your wedding in the event of any of the following:

  1. Wedding cancellation or rescheduling
    1. lost deposits
    2. nonrefundable deposits
    3. vendor bankruptcy
  2. Damage / loss
    1. wedding attire
    2. wedding rings
    3. wedding photos/video
  3. Liability
    1. property damage
    2. bodily injury
    3. alcohol-related accidents

So even though we can’t protect the day against a poorly-timed thunderstorm or traffic jam, we can protect our financial investment.  So,now knowing we’re insured, I can get back to all happy thoughts about the wedding…and then, maybe, grandchildren…
