At YMI Insurance, our commitment to clients goes beyond day to day service. It extends into advocacy, education, and making sure the voices of our communities are represented in the conversations that shape our industry. Recently, our President, Jimi Honochick, traveled to Washington, D.C. to take part in those important conversations at the national level.

During his time in D.C., Jimi met with lawmakers and their teams to discuss key issues currently impacting the insurance industry and the individuals and businesses who rely on it every day. These discussions focused on strengthening the National Flood Insurance Program, addressing concerns around third party litigation financing, and supporting legislation that protects the long term stability of independent insurance agencies.

Flood insurance continues to be a critical topic, especially for communities throughout Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. Access to reliable and affordable flood coverage can make a significant difference for homeowners and business owners facing unexpected events. The National Flood Insurance Program plays an essential role in providing that protection, and maintaining its strength remains a top priority for agents across the country. Jimi brought real world insight from working directly with clients, helping lawmakers better understand how national decisions directly impact families and businesses at the local level.

Another important focus of the trip was the conversation around third party litigation financing. This growing practice can influence claim outcomes and overall insurance costs, which ultimately affects premiums for policyholders. By participating in these discussions, Jimi advocated for greater transparency and responsible oversight to help protect consumers and promote fairness within the system.

Throughout the visit, Jimi had the opportunity to meet with leaders on both sides of the aisle. He met with Representative Ryan Mackenzie and connected with the office of Brendan Boyle to share perspectives from the front lines of the insurance industry. These conversations highlighted the importance of collaboration and finding common ground when it comes to supporting economic stability and protecting communities.

Jimi’s participation in this trip was made possible through YMI’s involvement with leading industry organizations, including the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America and Insurance Agents & Brokers. These organizations advocate for independent agencies and ensure that professionals across the country have a voice in the legislative process.

Beyond the meetings themselves, the trip reinforced the importance of staying engaged at every level of the industry. Advocacy is about people. It is about sharing real experiences and ensuring that decisions are made with a clear understanding of their impact. By bringing those perspectives to Washington, Jimi helped make sure that the needs of our clients and our communities were part of the conversation.

At YMI Insurance, we are proud to have leadership that actively represents not only our agency but the broader community we serve. This trip reflects our ongoing commitment to being a trusted resource and a strong advocate for those who rely on us every day.
