Out and About: Tossing Bags and Making Connections at the Annual Cornhole Tournament

The YMI team recently spent an afternoon at the Annual Cornhole Tournament hosted by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Council at Weyerbacher Brewing Company, and it was the perfect combination of friendly competition, networking, and community fun.

This year was especially exciting because YMI had the opportunity to be an event sponsor. Supporting events that bring local professionals together is something we always enjoy, and it was great to see such a strong turnout from businesses and organizations across the Lehigh Valley.

Last year, Erica and Modesty represented YMI at the tournament, but this year the team showed up in full force. Emily, Sierra, Molly, Dangely, Allison, Peyton, Modesty, and Erica all joined in on the fun, pairing up into teams and bringing plenty of energy to the competition. Team names included favorites like The Beanie Baddies, The Liability Tossers, The Premium Tossers, and Risky Business—proof that insurance professionals can get creative when cornhole is involved.

While we did not take home the championship trophy this year, we definitely brought our competitive spirit. There were plenty of close games, friendly rivalries, and laughs throughout the afternoon as teammates cheered each other on and celebrated every successful toss. Winning would have been nice, but the real highlight was spending time together outside of the office and enjoying a fun community event.

The tournament also gave us the opportunity to catch up with many familiar faces. We ran into current clients, local business professionals, fellow Chamber members, and even a few familiar faces from our East Stroudsburg University days. Events like this are a reminder of how connected our local communities really are and how valuable those relationships continue to be both professionally and personally.

Of course, no great event is complete without great food. Attendees enjoyed delicious offerings from Taste Budz, which kept players fueled between matches and added even more to the festive atmosphere.

A big thank you to the Young Professionals Council and the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce for organizing another fantastic tournament, and to everyone who stopped by to say hello. Whether we were tossing bags, catching up with friends, or representing YMI as a sponsor, we had an amazing time and are already looking forward to next year’s competition.

Until then, we may need a little more practice if we want to bring home the trophy!
